HM Truck – the POS solution for the heavy goods vehicle (HGV)
HERMES has developed together with the Porta IT Furniture Company a mobile POS solution for the construction carpenters. The solution focuses on a safe and easy to operate concept. The modern hardware enables extra features such as the recording and photographing of claims; these can then be transferred automatically and without manual intervention in the customer service. This saves time in the processing of the claims and rejoices the customers. An electronic payment system has also been integrated. The wireless transmission of data between the HGV drivers and the head office is possible in the distribution center.

The new generation of IGEL Thin Clients further improves the reliable maintenance concept in the POS. The IGEL Client now uses a higher value USB data stick and not the previously used compact flash card. This enables the usage of the same hardware configuration in the back office computer and also in the point-of-sale. The USB stick is located at the base of the IGEL UD3 or UD5 console and is thus fix assigned to the POS system. This further development saves money in the hardware acquisition and in the maintenance.

The 32 bit program architecture is a step in the future, which enables the usage of the current Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. The new technologies facilitate more system stability and a reduced implementation period for customer specific orders.
